Hey, I don't know if you remember, but a while ago we reached a consense to replace the level images with their backgrounds. During the next week, I'll finish checking what image corresponds to wich background and upload them all (right now I'm doing the BOTI and Kids Area, because they are easier to distinguish and find). However, some of the backgrounds seem to be built by overlaying two different images. In this case, I think the only feasible way to add the images will be:
1) Enter the level
2) Defeat the left enemy (and take a screenshot of the left side, if nothing drops from this enemy)
3) Exit the level, and do the same thing for the right
4) Put one image above the other, deleting the areas where the enemy appears
This way, we'll get a image of just the background (after cropping the board and the ally portraits). If after I add the ones I was able to datamine you would help to do so, I would be really glad.
PS: I think the best naming policy will be to simply add the in-game name. If more than one image has the same name, we can differ the names by the most logical way. Like the 12th doctor tardis from the kids area / 12th doctor tardis from BOTI, and so on.
PS2: Btw, just in case, if we end up adding the screenshot versions, let's put them under the "Placeholder images" just in case someone ever gets a datamined version of it
When you have time, can you upload an example of a background made by overlaying images? I took a screenshot of a level just for practice, and I see that we aren't getting the full picture. The top image is the datamined one and the bottom is my screenshot.
Yeah, that's the problem with just overlaying: depending on your device proportions, part of the background will be hidden under the ally portraits. For this reason I will replace the overlayed files when possible
It's possible to get a larger portion of the background through screenshotting, if you take the screenshot during levels with dialogue at the beginning. Obviously this won't work for all of the backgrounds, but you can get a large amount of them that way.
The image shown was screenshotted from the Facebook version of the game. If you compare my image with Felicityk's datamined one, you can see that the datamined image is still superior, but that my image has less of the background cut-off than Felicityk's screenshotted one. (Obviously the pause button in the corner is also an issue, but it is only a placeholder.)
I've posted here wich areas of the game I have already upload the background images on the levels. Some of these backgrounds may have been used on other levels (such as the "File:Macra cave.jpg" have). For a complete list of images, check Category:Level backgrounds
Great work! Should I start adding images for Chapter One and keep note of which backgrounds we are missing? I think it's best if Dominodalek contributes screenshots as placeholders, since he can get a more complete image. Any other editors who play the Facebook version can help.
Felicityk: Sure! Feel free to start uploading it whenever you can (and to message me about the missing backgrounds)
Dominodalek: Just a (small) reminder: please remember adding the background as .jpg and to (when possible) make the name file match the in-game description of it (+ adding the Category:Level backgrounds)
I've gone through all the Special and Premium levels now. I did a pass on Chapter One adding everything we have so far. I will write one more post with what's missing from Chapter One and then call it a day.
I might work on Chapter Two today if I have time, but to avoid clogging OncomingStorm's messages I'll keep track of missing backgrounds offline. Then when the existing backlog has been cleared I will post another list.
It's ok if you post the Chapter 2 list already. Looks like that by sunday night (on my time zone) I'll probably be able to figure this issue out, so around Monday/Tuesday I'll upload all these missing backgrounds.
I got in the zone and did Chapters 2-4. I think I covered all the images needed between the four chapters and the remaining special/premium areas, but I might not have captured every level that has a missing background.
