  • Hello IEscape,

    I'm not sure what is problematic, and once you are done I will clean up as needed.

    1. I think you have noticed it yourself, but you broke that template ;-) (But at least you reverted your edits, so not much harm done)
    2. I'm not sure why you did it, but the nowiki-tags make absolutely no sense. The templates actively wants to do wikicode (the [[ ... ]] to generate links), so I don't know what disabling should do.
    3. I personally don't use the Visual Editor, and maybe some of the problems you experience are related to using it (at least the Edit history says that). I would never use it to edit Templates and generally would look at "Show changes" (accessible via drop-down at the "Preview" button) to see whether the edits are really what you want them to be (though that seems to be only available inside the source editor...).
    4. Not sure if you know it or not, but Convert teams is not broken (yet), because it still uses a cached/old version. You would need a refresh (for example via a "null edit") to get an updated version (this is currently a plus ;-) ).
    5. I don't think we have established rules or anything on it, but I wouldn't classify any of your edits on the template as "minor" (though I like the rather verbose commit messages).
    6. Especially if you try to test stuff I wouldn't do that on live pages (even if they aren't updated instantly like in the case of this template. You never know when it gets updated automatically or if another user runs into the problem). You should use a Sandbox to test such stuff (for example there is Sandbox and you can also make pages in your userspace. I made User:ThatDWLguy/Sandbox to User:ThatDWLguy/Sandbox4 to test various thing without interfering with anyone.)

    • I said it once, but I can say it again, I have no idea what your talking about. I never had any problems* while editing this page. My first reaction to "keeps moving" would be that your doing something wrong while editing, but I assume that you have edited enough stuff, so this shouldn't be the case ;).

      Is there a good reason to put all Templates into one line, other then the code being harder to read? (Because unless you present me a good reason, I can assure you that the next time I will update it, it will be reverted.)

      *The complete version was a bit troublesome due to size (load time), but other than being slow it made no problems to me, so from a functional perspective it was fine.

    • I will make it plain

      every so often the section Max ATK teams

      {| cellpadding="5"<br />|

      {{:Convert teams/rowBig|Blue|Angie Maitland|Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart +|Spoonhead 11th Doctor|6484|1855|10020|8517}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Green|Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart|Robin Hood|K9 MK 2 +|7074|2235|11207|5781}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Red|Jennifer Lucas|Whomobile|Winston Churchill|10602|1388|5102|4320}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Black|ARC|Ood (Black)|Tobias "Toby" Zed|7206|3150|8265|7744}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Yellow|Handles|Jimmy Wicks Ganger|Robin Hood|8710|1510|11544|8881}}<br />|}

      becomes

      {{:Convert teams/rowBig|Blue|Angie Maitland|Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart +|Spoonhead 11th Doctor|6484|1855|10020|8517}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Green|Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart|Robin Hood|K9 MK 2 +|7074|2235|11207|5781}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Red|Jennifer Lucas|Whomobile|Winston Churchill|10602|1388|5102|4320}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Black|ARC|Ood (Black)|Tobias "Toby" Zed|7206|3150|8265|7744}}{{:Convert teams/rowBig|Yellow|Handles|Jimmy Wicks Ganger|Robin Hood|8710|1510|11544|8881}}

      {| cellpadding="5"<br />|<br />|}

      And that is the first thing that happens before I even make any edits using source editor. The cell padding bit keeps moving and meaning the whole section is not in a table and if i publish the whoe section become loose and display incorrectly

    • @mobile: Overall I would say the wiki doesn't work well on the mobile version. The full site version on a mobile device works for me without any problems. I'm not sure whether it is worth to investigate why the mobile version sucks, but probably I'm not in a position to do anything about it (I have no clue, but I would think that for some needed changes admin rights might be necessary).

      @Convert teams/row: If you think it is an improvement, feel free to change it, but imo it is only a waste of character space to extract the row-start command. You can't even really keep the cell-start command out of it, because the template is exactly there to make multiple cells. Exposing the first cell but not following ones just seems illogical to me. (As for article-table vs. wikitable: I don't really know what the difference there is, I have just used something that worked :-).)

      I don't think that allowing specific attributes is a good reason to do this change, either. A template is there to allow to be consistent between all instances the template is used with. I would be interested what attribute you want to apply to a specific row only (at least in the convert team scenario).

      @id="mw-customcollapsible-ConvertersBlue": As I said, I don't know where the API for this feature is located. All I can say that it interacts with the class="mw-customtoggle-ConvertersBlue wikia-menu-button". I would assume that some JavaScript framework reads the class/id's tags and connects the two if the suffix is equivalent (you could change ConvertersBlue to a random strings without breaking the functionality).

    • For mw-customcollapsible-ConvertersBlue, the main part of the code is mw-customcollapsible, the ConvertersBlue part is just for the button to know where to show/collapse. It is html code, you can read more here: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Collapsing
