The most important element is to have a stun character ready to go in wave 6 when the first summoned Zygon arrives, to stun it before it can cast Shadow, and then be ready to knock out both summoned Zygons in one shot.
So, from tomorrow to Tuesday I'll be off-home, without acess to my computer. For this reason, I'll be unable to upload the image for the next patch's drop until late Tuesday, or perhaps early Wednesday. I'll also contact User:Hfelton about this, asking him to add it, if he's available to do so.
As a "back-up" plan, in the case he's not: iirc there used to be a link to your personal Twitter somewhere on the wiki, but I can't seem to find it. If you want to, send me a link to it, and then I can send you the datamined image for next patch's drop trough there (the image has been on the game's database for a long time). This way, even if Hfelton is not available, a image can be added to the wiki Monday.
So, from my experience at another wiki, we generally make infoboxes alignments a bit different than from here.
Here, when we reach the end of a parameter, we put one "space" between the last letter of the word and the "=", like this:
|is Expert? = true
|doctor/companion = doctor
However, over there, we add enough spaces, so every "=" is below the other on the infobox, like this:
|is Expert? = true
|doctor/companion = doctor
Once the page is published, it makes no difference at all (visually). However, since most of us here create pages through the code, it can be a bit of a time saver (instead of moving all the way to the where the other "=" is, we can just hit the "down" key on the keyboard, or move the mouse a bit below.
As User:Alpha1812 warned us to keep an eye on pages getting too big, there's a good news on this: the pages don't get much bigger than they already are. I made these changes to A Mad Man with a Box. You can see that these changes only added 310 bytes to the page (less than 10% of the total size). Do you think this changes are good, or should we just go back to the way it was?
This change would affect all Category:Allies, Category:Enemies and Category:Levels pages, and I'd make sure to go through all of them to make the changes (although, I have to admit, kind of slowly, because it will affect almost every page on the wiki)
I have no strong feelings on this either way, but I see you have buy-in from Alpha so I'm fine with the change. I probably won't have time to help out for the next couple of weeks, but let me know what you get done and I can pick it up at some time in the future.
I'll probably make a "sandbox" page listing everything that needs to be done in detail, once I actually start making these changes, so you can keep an eye on that, and also feel free to edit it if you help too.
There is unfortunately not a multiple delete tool that I can find. What I was able to do with the sequentially numbered level titles is kind of a shortcut. I select the first one, e.g. C4L03.png, and choose delete. This goes to the URL:
Hey, looking back at the spoiler policy I decided it was better to delete the page for now. (Don't read any further if you don't want spoilers on upcoming content).
Even though it was announced that Grace is coming in around 5/6 weeks, that's still a bit far away.
The thing that completly made my mind was a coment on that page which contained news from not only Grace herself, but also Gwen Cooper.
Anyway, once Grace is released we can create her page once again (also, it it quite pointless to leave a blank page in here for that long).
howdee, just a comment about daily-mission july-1... im fairly sure that trg actually did make that mistake of no-past-crystals that day... i was annoyed at pattern-break and i tried/failed at getting any past xtals that day... because it was new-month, i thought maybe theyd changed something in their code - or that my android phone was acting [more] weird (lags have been awful)... of course, it is now in-the-past and consistency looks better... just fyi (which is why i wont undo edit - even though i was tempted)... have fun, h. :-)
just a weird comment/notice... todays daily-mission --should-- be green (with the past-xtal), according to the list at Chapter 1... otoh, the enemies listed at The Red Castle are yellow/green... i only got a past-fragment and im sure it isnt critical, but clearly something is a bit-odd since there were a lot (249?) downloads just now...
ok - im noticing that todays-update has fragments past & future, rather than the 'normal/correct' past & green... again, ill put what i see into the page - but if things go back to 'normal' in a day or two; then id totally prefer that it get changed to past-green... fyi, h.
ps - if your game shows something different for today; feel free to adjust, this is just what mine showed tonight... hth, h.
eta - btw - the comment about '--should-- be green' from above/july that i made ; is why i went thru and updated all the fragment-listings for each of the chapters awhile (2wks?) ago... i did not double-check to see if the enemies in-level had changed-colors; but it was easy to go down the list and compare fragments-listed for the chapters...
Thanks, hope you have a good morning too. I've been slower at working my way through the BOTI levels than I expected. Of course, I'm also beta-testing another game at the moment and that's taking up a lot of my free time. Ever heard of the Sorcery! series? It started out as a series of choose-your-own-adventure-style books in the '80s, and inkle has turned them into excellent mobile games. The fourth and final game in the series is what I've been testing.
Oh, totally forgot to answer your question. :) Yes, the daily UNIT mission is showing past and future fragments for me too. I've actually had future fragments drop occasionally in previous missions even though they weren't shown.
cool... checked website... nope, never heard/read sorcery!-series or seen the inkle-game...
oddly, i DID follow your older comment in-forum about dungeon-link... not to the actual game, but to their wikia... [smile] their wikia is very-very-cool (to a coding-geek like me) particularly at their page hero-table... anyways - congrats on the beta-testing... my roommate has beta-tested a couple of xbox-games (dont remember names, unfortunately)... he is much-younger (quicker-reflexes) and jumped into pokemon-go on day-1 too...
playing games is much-more-fun than actually doing-work... ;-) btw - watching yall crank thru the BOTI-levels just floors me... i havent yet picked it up again (so im still back at level-2) - but eventually i plan to make it thru... if your real-world-job is playing-games (beta-testing or otherwise), then i think im jealous... lol... enjoy, h.
Sadly, no. I guess that the backgrounds are handled differently from the ally/enemies. The allies/enemies images are already transparent backgrounds. The level backgrounds, I don't know why, are different. Unfortunately, I think we will need to keep some of the files as the screenshot versions.
It's not such a big deal, since we only have a dozen or so screenshots out of all the backgrounds. It would be nice if Dominodalek or someone else with the Facebook version could get more complete screenshots. I did notice that if there is dialogue at the start of a level, the full art shows for just a flash before the row of allies appears. I can try to get better screenshots if I can do it fast enough!
Hey, I don't know if you remember, but a while ago we reached a consense to replace the level images with their backgrounds. During the next week, I'll finish checking what image corresponds to wich background and upload them all (right now I'm doing the BOTI and Kids Area, because they are easier to distinguish and find). However, some of the backgrounds seem to be built by overlaying two different images. In this case, I think the only feasible way to add the images will be:
1) Enter the level
2) Defeat the left enemy (and take a screenshot of the left side, if nothing drops from this enemy)
3) Exit the level, and do the same thing for the right
4) Put one image above the other, deleting the areas where the enemy appears
This way, we'll get a image of just the background (after cropping the board and the ally portraits). If after I add the ones I was able to datamine you would help to do so, I would be really glad.
PS: I think the best naming policy will be to simply add the in-game name. If more than one image has the same name, we can differ the names by the most logical way. Like the 12th doctor tardis from the kids area / 12th doctor tardis from BOTI, and so on.
PS2: Btw, just in case, if we end up adding the screenshot versions, let's put them under the "Placeholder images" just in case someone ever gets a datamined version of it
When you have time, can you upload an example of a background made by overlaying images? I took a screenshot of a level just for practice, and I see that we aren't getting the full picture. The top image is the datamined one and the bottom is my screenshot.
Yeah, that's the problem with just overlaying: depending on your device proportions, part of the background will be hidden under the ally portraits. For this reason I will replace the overlayed files when possible
It's possible to get a larger portion of the background through screenshotting, if you take the screenshot during levels with dialogue at the beginning. Obviously this won't work for all of the backgrounds, but you can get a large amount of them that way.
The image shown was screenshotted from the Facebook version of the game. If you compare my image with Felicityk's datamined one, you can see that the datamined image is still superior, but that my image has less of the background cut-off than Felicityk's screenshotted one. (Obviously the pause button in the corner is also an issue, but it is only a placeholder.)
I've posted here wich areas of the game I have already upload the background images on the levels. Some of these backgrounds may have been used on other levels (such as the "File:Macra cave.jpg" have). For a complete list of images, check Category:Level backgrounds
Great work! Should I start adding images for Chapter One and keep note of which backgrounds we are missing? I think it's best if Dominodalek contributes screenshots as placeholders, since he can get a more complete image. Any other editors who play the Facebook version can help.
Felicityk: Sure! Feel free to start uploading it whenever you can (and to message me about the missing backgrounds)
Dominodalek: Just a (small) reminder: please remember adding the background as .jpg and to (when possible) make the name file match the in-game description of it (+ adding the Category:Level backgrounds)
I've gone through all the Special and Premium levels now. I did a pass on Chapter One adding everything we have so far. I will write one more post with what's missing from Chapter One and then call it a day.
I might work on Chapter Two today if I have time, but to avoid clogging OncomingStorm's messages I'll keep track of missing backgrounds offline. Then when the existing backlog has been cleared I will post another list.
It's ok if you post the Chapter 2 list already. Looks like that by sunday night (on my time zone) I'll probably be able to figure this issue out, so around Monday/Tuesday I'll upload all these missing backgrounds.
I got in the zone and did Chapters 2-4. I think I covered all the images needed between the four chapters and the remaining special/premium areas, but I might not have captured every level that has a missing background.
The drop icons are not datamined. I haven't seen you active on the wiki in a long time and we have a lot of datamined images missing. We have been doing what we can in the meantime.
We had this discussion in the past. I don't see anything wrong with uploading placeholder images, especially when it can take weeks or months for those who can datamine to have the time. FiveofEight, who is an Admin, agreed in the Datamining discussion on your wall. Why not add your input there?
Yes, I know that I was not on the Wiki. I will try my best to do all the added content today. If I can't (for some reasons) it will be on the Wiki till Saturday for sure. Sorry for leaving you in thise kind of situation.
The problem is that the secret of datamining is guarded very closely. OncomingStorm12th and I do most of the edits for the wiki and are able to stay on top of things, but I understand not everyone has that kind of time. Unfortunately, neither of us knows how to datamine.
I know, and I am very sorry for that. Now I will try to be here more often. An make things up do date. Please keep informing me about stuff. And please, don't upload character images (i mean those with black bacround) where the whole character is shown, as OStorm12th did with Signature Allies. As I think, that they are datamined, but they're actually not. You can add those costume boxes, I will later update them, but please don't do constume ones. Okay? Ty.
You have been rude to me! After being absent for two months, the first thing you do is post on my wall and tell me not to upload non-datamined images! You have said the same thing to OncomingStorm12th, but he and I are the ones doing almost all the work on this wiki. If we did not upload placeholders the wiki would be months behind and not helpful to users.
If you think something should be a rule, you should talk to the admins and not bully other users.
That doesn't mean You weren't rude. First of all, everyone has problems. I had some. You even don't know what they were! Don't judge me, please, okay? I feel really bad now. I can't give all my time for wiki, as I don't have as much of it.
And when I finally got some, I came HERE to help. And, I offered help, but, You are now attacking me. Sorry, if You really don't want to have those images, just don't spam at least about it. Because asking firstly, and then being rude is not good at all.
Once more. I won't upload anything if we will be talking like that.
I am sorry if I sounded rude. I completely understand that no one can be here all the time and that life interferes. I never demanded anything of you. I asked if it was okay to post on your wall when images were needed and you said it was. When you were absent for a while, OncomingStorm12th continued to post there and Fiveofeight helped out when he could. An agreement was made between us (again, approved by an admin) that we would upload in-game images as a placeholder.
What came across as rude to me is that instead of saying hi, I'm back, how can I help, you immediately asked me not to upload images that were not datamined. Maybe it is the language barrier, but that seems very bossy. We had no way of knowing if you were ever coming back. I am glad that you did, and sorry for any hardships in your life.
Sapciofilm, is your main concern the difficulty of identifying which images still need to be datamined when there are placeholders already uploaded? What if we put all the placeholder images in a category, such as Category:Placeholder images?
Yes, Fiveoffeight. Thank You. That would be just amazing. My work would go smothlier. And, Felicityk - yes. We should talk about that also. Because before, I was told, that we can upload only datamined images for drops :D That's why I asked You not to do so, as then I am lost in those images.
I noticed your earlier comment on the duplicate Ood disambiguation page. The reason the naming is like that is due to the names of the other pages. For example, Ood is the full name of one of the characters in the game, but Adipose is not. So there's a primary article for the term "Ood" (the yellow Ood, which is simply named "Ood" in the game), but not for the term "Adipose"; the term "Adipose" necessarily needs disambiguation. Essentially, "disambiguation" itself in a title is also a means of disambiguation, but it's only needed if there's already something with the exact name of the term being disambiguated. (This is also the naming convention used by Wikipedia: wikipedia:WP:DABNAME.)
PS: Also, sorry for not replying to your request on my wall the other day. I see User:KungWho got around to it, though.
