general thought - yes, consistency is a great goal and keeping-it-simple is useful too... specific thought - i assume that these addendums were added to cover 'special cases' by the original authors... maybe all of the specifics are covered by the characters details at their tardis-articles ?

ok - just went thru and did a --little-- research to form an opinion... i only looked at charlotte, gwen, and the 10th doctor... alongside the personal knowledge i have of only the new-series/torchwood... basically, i did not watch the old-series; nor have i read any of the comics/novels/etc... this game (other than the new-tv-serieses) is my only real fan-following i did with doctor-who... so...

there is a little chicken-egg problem with some of the suffixes to the appearance-field... on the one hand, it is kinda-nice to have the extra information... otoh, it does not really add much to --this-- wikia that the tardis-wikia doesnt already have... in particular, i am not sure whether charlotte being from big-finish-productions is new-information from this-games appearance-field; or whether the appearance-field was modified based on the details at the tardis-article... (ie: the tardis-article mentions dwl in behind-the-scenes) the photo shown at the tardis-article seems to be a live-person from a tv-appearance ? idk - it is confusing to me...

for gwen, who i only know from the torchwood-tv-series that i watched at the time... the tardis-arcticle seems to have some controversy about factual-accuracy because of the extra-appearances that she made elsewhere... wheee... she (gwen) looks ok to me - and i would not need the further details of (torchwood) in the appearance-column to distinguish her from other-doctors or other-characters or whatnot...

probably, at the time, we mightve got info from the creators of this game - about where the new-character was being originated-from... sigh...

personally, if the complete appearance-field is removed - then it would be nice (in the history-log for that removal) to capture some details... or maybe move the outfit-extra-info to that characters talk-page... or something ? ie - i am a packrat and hate to lose something, even if it is good-for-my-own-sanity... lol...

idk - but i do NOT want to --add-- more details to all the outfits - i would just research that character on the tardis-wikia if i was interested in where that outfit might have come-from... from the game-perspective, either i have the outfit or i dont...

from my personal-perspective, either i know the character or i dont... if i dont, then the extra info in the appearance-field is not particularly useful to me... i will look them up in the tardis-wikia or just accept whatever-outfits/details i get in the game...

This was taken from Charllote's page, and that's the reason it has (Big Finish Productions) on it. Anyway, with this example I believe it's easier to show what I mean. This removal would be also applied to "(Torchwood)", "(Novel)", "(Doctor Who Magazine)" etc. on the pages linked.

I'm a big fan of relaying on ingame information, so I give a "thumbs-up" to remove non-ingame information.

Abit late to the discussion here but I agree with most of you. When this wikia started, we maintained a policy of using ingame information only. So your suggested changes would be in line with that policy.
